Abstract
In the paper, by deriving a formula for special values of the Bell polynomials of the second kind, with the help of the Faa di Bruno formula for computing higher order derivatives of composite functions, the authors establish explicit formulas for derangement numbers and their generating function in terms of the Stirling numbers of the second kind.
