Abstract. In this paper, we investigate existence and nonexistence of positive solutions for the $\alpha$ -order, where $2<\alpha\leq 3$ , nonlinear fractional boundary value problem

$D^{\alpha }u(t)+f(t,u(t))=0,$ $0<t<1,$

$u(0)=u^{\prime }(0)=u^{\prime }(1)=0.$
