Abstract In this paper, an MK viscosity iteration is introduced and investigated for solving an equilibrium problem and a fixed point problem with a nonexpansive operator. A theorem of strong convergence is established in the setting of Hilbert spaces. There is no any compact restriction imposed on the operator and the subset involved.
