Abstract. This paper presents a priori error analysis of finite volume element (FVE) method for linear pseudo-parabolic optimal control problems subject to integral control constraints. A novel FVE scheme is constructed based on the discretize-then-optimize approach, in which the state and co-state variables are approximated by continuous piecewise linear finite elements, while the control variable is discretized by using piecewise constant functions. Optimal a priori error estimates in the -norm for the all variables are proved.
